A Bridge Too Far - Saturday Football
February 27th, 2010 by Bob
All eyes are on the early Premier League kick-off today with love Rivals Bridge and Terry meeting for the 1st time since Bridgegate!
Forget the football - the big money is on whether Bridge will shake hands with JT.
Coral have:
- John Terry & Wayne Bridge to be shown shaking hands at any point 8/13
- Wayne Bridge to be carded for a foul on John Terry 25/1
- John Terry to be carded for a foul on Wayne Bridge 33/1
- Wayne Bridge to be sent off 33/1
More JT vs. Bridge football specials are available at Coral.
In the rest of today’s Premier League action we have:
Birmingham vs. Wigan
Both teams are having a poor run of form with Wigan getting precariously close to the dreaded drop zone. With Birmingham’s strong home form (unbeaten in last 9) Alex McLeish will be looking to turn that around today with a win.
Bolton vs. Wolves
Another 2 teams that are at the wrong end of the table; Mick McCarthy is determined to continue with Wolves defensive play and believes it will see them crawl to safety but they were poor defensively at Chelsea last week and that may be their downfall again today.
Burnley vs. Portsmouth
What a week for Portsmouth and the Premier League – the 1st Premier League club into Administration! Portsmouth are effective down and out with their 9 point deduction. Will they crash to their 6th defeat in a row on the road? Or will the club turmoil bring the team together to produce a good display for the fans?
Stoke vs. Arsenal
Stoke are unbeaten in 2010 and their home form is good – only 3 defeats at home this season. Arsenal should have the skills to beat Stoke today, which could bring them closer to the 2nd Premier League place with Man Unt. Playing in the Carling cup tomorrow.
Sunday Football
Tomorrows games include:
Spurs vs. Everton
Liverpool vs. Blackburn
Sunderland vs. Fulham
And the big Wembley showdown – Man Unt. Vs. Aston Villa. Will Fergies reds take home the silverware tomorrow? I think United will be too strong for Villa and will win by a goal or two.
My Football Bets
My picks for this week include:
Swansea to beat Peterborough (Peterborough have lost the last 6 away games and haven’t scored for 3 games).
Norwich (away) to beat Oldham. Norwich are flying high in league 1 and Oldham are struggling. Norwich cannot stop scoring – I expect to see some goals in this one.
Bradford to beat Darlington. Bradford will be looking for their 1st home win in 8 games under new manager Peter Taylor and I expect them to get it today against Darlington – whose away form is appalling. 12 losses out of 14.
In the big game today my money’s on Chelsea. I expect the game to be a fiery affair but the league leaders should come out on top. City haven’t been doing as well as expected under Mancini and they haven’t scored at Stamford Bridge in 10 year.

Some good wins for me yesterday with Swansea, Norwich and Bradford all getting 1-0 wins!
Chelsea let me down; I suppose it was to be expected with tempers running high on both teams because of the Bridgegate affair. Hopefully this will put to bed the Terry/Bridge news headlines and we can get back to some decent football in the run up to the world cup…
