Weekend Football Betting, Saturday 25th April 2009

Its a great weekend for football fans this week!
The Premier league title could be over for Liverpool if they drop points at Hull and its squeaky bum time for Shearers Toon army. Dropping points against Portsmouth on Monday could see Newcastle playing championship football next season.
Manchester United take on a revitalized Spurs team, but Fergie will be looking for a convincing win after some poor performances of late to keep the pressure on Liverpool who are still chasing the title. I expect United to win this game but think Harrys spurs team could give United a scare by netting the first goal.
I have taken Sky Bets odds of 3/1 on Spurs to score the first goal!
Treble Football Bet
My next bet this weekend is a treble with Arsenal, Peterborough and Birmingham to win at Odds of 3.51 from Sky Bet.
Arsenal have been playing well in the last couple of weeks (if you ignore the FA cup defeat last week) and had a great result midweek against Liverpool. They cannot stop scoring at the moment and against a poor Boro side you would expect them to net a few goals. Boro have lost the last 9 away games and I dont expect that run to change today.
Peterborough will be looking to cement automatic promotion to the Championship with a good win against Colchester today. Colchester have lost their last 3 home games and are the lowest scoring home side in League One.
Birmingham are looking to bounce back into the Premier League with a win against Preston this week. Preston had a great 6-0 win last week; but I expect their luck to come to an end against a Birmingham side desperate for promotion and who are undefeated in last ten home games.
Four Team Accumulator
My last football bet of the weekend is a four team accumulator on Everton, Liverpool, Tranmere and the MK Dons to win at Odds of 5.01 from Sky Bet.
It is a must win game for Liverpool; any points dropped here could effectively end their title dreams. I expect the goals to fly in for Liverpool against a Hull side who have conceded more goals at home than any other Premier League side this season.
Everton had a great cup win last week and will be looking for a win against a Man City side who have lost the last 3 away games without hitting the back of the net. Moyes team beat Man City 1-0 in the away leg and I expect them to win by a similar margin today.
Tranmere are on a winning run and have won their last 5 home games on the bounce and they need to win today to keep their position in the League One playoffs. This should be an easy win against a Yeovil sides who have failed to score in the last 7 away trips.
MK Dons take on Walsall and need the win to keep the pressure on Peterborough for the second automatic promotion place in League One. The Dons are four points behind but have a game in hand so have it all to play for. The MK Dons beat Walsall 3-0 in the away leg this season so will be expecting a good win today.
Good luck with your football bets this weekend!

Some strange results at the weekend saw my treble and 4 team accumalator end in disaster! Man City defied their away form for an excellent win at Everton and a poor performance by Birmingham ended my hopes of the treble.
Luckily Spurs were on form (for the 1st half anyway) and I ended the weekend only slightly down after my 3/1 win on Spurs scoring the 1st goal against United.
